Windows Xp hides the extension of known file types by default, so it can be quite annoying when you have to find a file extension quickly. Thankfully this is rather easy to change.

Windows Xp hides the extension of known file types by default, so it can be quite annoying when you have to find a file extension quickly. Thankfully this is rather easy to change.

•Open up any Windows explorer window. You can do this with the windows key + E command as mentioned in a previous post.

•Once open, go view, folder options. Once here go to the view tab. Scroll down to “hide extensions for known file types”, and un-check

•Once this is done, you will be able to see, and rename the file extension on any file.

This can become annoying after a while, as when saving files in programs you have to put in the file extension manually. If this is the case, then just change it back. I recommend only using it when you need to rename a file extension, and change back after.
