Tips to get more traffic
Traffic is very important. On a blog, video, or any site, traffic is important. In this article, I will show you some ways to get more traffic.
Search engines. Most good traffic comes from search engines. This is mainly because one of the biggest websites in the world happens to be one. Search engines deliver targeted visiters that are interested in you content, and want to find out more. What more could you ask for? Getting traffic from search engines involves:
SEO Making sure that your website is search engine friendly, and focusing on keywords is a great help. Avoid using javascript and flash for menu systems as the search engine can find it hard go through these. If you must, then provide text links at the botttom of your page.
Submit to as many search engines as possible. However, do not submit the same page more than once, or spam them in any other way. Search engines I recommend submiting to: Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Altavista.
Submitting to directories is another must. Direstories are often used by search engines, so submitting to a directory may save you a lot of work. Google generally ranks pages in directories higher, so they are a good idea. Direcories I recommend submiting to: Dmoz, and Yahoo directory.
Traffic exchanges. While submiting to search engines is great, a user may not know your site exists, so a good way to introduce them is to use a traffic exchange. A traffic exchange generally works with a system of credits: you surf peoples sites and earn credits, and in return you can spend those credits on visitors to your site. Links. Links to your site are good for more tthan one reason: they direct visitors to your site, and they also improve your page rank. However, be aware that one link from a good well known site is far better then hundreds from sites you have never heard of. So, place links from forums, youtube videos, email signatures, and anywhere you can!
Do not spam however, or join a forum just for advertising your site, as this will most likely get you banned. Instead join a forum in the field of your expertise, and make a real contribution. This way people will respect you, and visit you website because they are interested.
